Yesterday the Trump-Vance Transition opened their application portal for those looking to serve in the new admin.
The truth is the only qualification is whether or not the president, or someone he designates with hiring authority, wants you to serve in the administration.
If you want to become a presidential appointee there are things you can do to strengthen your chances of being hired, and things you can do to tank it.
That said, NO ONE is guaranteed an appointment.
I’ve got a 6,000+ word post, available to paid subscribers only, discussing how you can optimize your application . . .
It’s split into three parts . . .
Part I: Questions to ask yourself before deciding to pursue an appointment.
A presidential appointment isn’t for everyone.
The work requires sacrifices.
And you’re not guaranteed continued employment as appointees may be let go at any time.
Your life can also be exposed in a manner you don’t want it to and during your tenure something can happen that puts you at legal risk or damages your reputation, finances, and professional future, even if you did nothing wrong.
Media jackals and administrative state apparatchiks will do their best to see that happens.
The questions are meant to help you think deeply on whether or not serving as an appointee is the right path for you.
Don’t feel bad if becoming an appointee isn’t right for you.
There are other ways to help President Trump enact an America First agenda.
And you can also throw your hat in the ring later.
Part II: Things to do before the election to optimize your chances.
This is OBE, but worth reading for future admins if you don’t join this time.
May help you get into the Vance-Trump Jr. admin which gets inaugurated in 2029.
Congratulations to those who became paid subscribers early on and acted on the advice!
You’re now a step ahead of those who didn’t follow it.
Part III: Things you can do once President Trump has won to secure an appointment and help make America great again.
This discusses how best to apply and what to do afterwards. Fact is there are things you can do so your app gets taken more seriously.
Also mentioned are other entry points beyond just applying to the website.
The info is based on my experience becoming an appointee in the first Trump administration, those of others who also received appointments, and discussions with folks who have been in a personnel management role in multiple admins.
One more thing: if you’re not committed to President Trump’s agenda and are unwilling to do the hard work and make the sacrifices necessary to enact it, or lack the courage to do so, then the honorable thing is for you NOT to apply.
